Women who wrap their entire identity up in being a bride or wife, why?

I know it's natural to be very excited that you are getting married... but the bridal avatar? Using a bridal pic on myspace? The whole "Mrs./whoeverswife/baby/girl" screen name thing?

I love my husband, but I am not soley a wife I'm my own person with a lot more to talk about. When I wanted to go bridal, I did it on theknot.com... not for the general pop.

Does anyone else think it's a tad odd to wrap your whole identity up into being a bride??

Yeah, some women can go over the top. That's why they made the show "Bridezillas". My wife was a newlywed, once and she managed to strike the right balance. Planning a wedding brings out strange behavior in some people, and not just the brides. My brother turned into a bona fide jerk planning his wedding. I've been married for fifteen years, and he'd call me and ask for advice, and when I'd give it to him, he'd act like it was the dumbest thing he had ever heard, or he'd proclaim, in the most arrogant tone he could muster "We thought of that already!"

I agree with your question and it's premise. But, I just wanted to add that even grooms and other family members can get wound too tightly while planning a wedding. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Not really. There are many women who are thrilled to get married or be wives/mothers - there is nothing wrong with it. If a woman loves being a bride, to-be bride, mother, etc that much then whats the big deal? Just because she cherishes her life doesn't make her wrong just because she isn't a career woman who is ultra independent.

Even women who proclaim themselves to be a mrs, a to-be bride, etc have their own personna. They are just proclaiming to the world that they are happy and thrilled to be with their spouse.
